Simple gardening help, without a personal profile

Local planting dates are optional. If you enter a U.S. ZIP code or city, Eating Garden saves a place label and a small climate summary so your crop pages can show useful dates.

If you use your device location, the coordinates are used once to find a nearby supported place. The coordinates are not stored in the database or in your browser cookie.

The saved location cookie is named eg_location. It is protected from ordinary browser scripts, lasts up to 180 days and can be cleared from any location picker. Pages that use it are marked private so a shared cache does not show your local answer to someone else.

On the public eatinggarden.com website, Google Analytics may count visits and show broad information such as popular pages, device type and general area. The setup asks Google to anonymize IP addresses. Google may set its own measurement cookies.

Analytics never loads on local or test versions of the site, and it is blocked during automated browser checks. Eating Garden does not use this information to build a gardening profile or sell personal information.

If a search finds nothing, Eating Garden may keep the words you searched for and the time of the search. This helps us notice missing crops and guides. The record is not tied to a name or account.

Like most websites, the server and its security services may keep ordinary technical logs needed to operate and protect the site.
