About Eating Garden
Grow what you eat.
Eating Garden is a small independent site about growing food you actually want to eat, from a single pot on a windowsill to a few raised beds.
How every guide is made
Every crop page is written by hand and checked against university extension programs, the public research services that study what grows where.
Those sources are listed at the bottom of each page, so you can read them yourself. When a source does not give a number, such as the days until harvest, the page leaves it out rather than guessing.
Where planting dates come from
Planting dates come from NOAA frost records and USDA hardiness data for your own area, never from a guess. They are based on historical climate records, not a weather forecast, so a warm or cold year can shift them.
A hardiness zone describes how cold your winters get. It does not set planting dates on its own, and the site says so rather than implying otherwise.
Who makes it
Eating Garden is built and maintained by David Choi. There is no account to sign up for.
Growing advice varies with your climate and variety, so treat every guide as a well-sourced starting point and watch how your own plants respond.
